TCR UK race winners Steve and Sam Laidlaw will make their debut in the TCR Europe Touring Car Series finale at Barcelona this weekend.
Driving their CUPRA Leon VZ TCRs run by Area Motorsport, this will be the first time that the father and son duo will compete in TCR competition’s flagship regional series.
Steve and Sam have already raced in the pre-season weekend of the TCR Spain Touring Car Championship at Valencia, where both drivers secured podium finishes in each of the two races.
As part of a 27-strong entry, Barcelona will provide a strong test of experience and ability as both drivers take on Europe’s best touring car teams and drivers, ahead of the TCR UK finale at Brands Hatch in November.
With one weekend left to go in the 2025 season, Steve and Sam will focus on finishing their first full season in TCR UK on a high note.
Sam holds the honour of winning the 100th TCR UK race at Donington Park back in April, as well as being in the hunt for the driver’s title. 2025 has seen many highs for Steve, including his first pole position during a very dominant performance over the Silverstone weekend in May.
Championship Manager Jack Finlan spoke about the Laidlaws entry in this weekend’s TCR Europe event.
“It’s great to see Steve and Sam competing in the final round of TCR Europe this weekend. It’s brilliant to see them broaden their horizon within the TCR family and join ex-TCR UK graduates Jenson Brickley and Max Hart on the European grid.” said Jack.
“Best of luck to Sam and Steve, we will all be keeping a close eye on their progress.”
