With the season’s concluding three rounds out of 14 taking place at Donington on Bank Holiday Monday (30th August), we’ve asked the five drivers who are in with a mathematical chance of claiming the 2021 Goodyear Touring Car Trophy title for their comments, as they prepare for the Grand Finale.

After scoring three race victories and an impressive seven podium finishes, Lewis Kent heads to Donington with a 21-point advantage over his closest rival. Driving his Essex and Kent prepared Hyundai i30N TCR, the 2020 Champion shares his thoughts…

“With so many drivers still being able to take the title, as I have done all season, I’m going to concentrate on scoring points and if a win and podiums come from that, then that’s a bonus. But the most important thing is to maintain the advantage I’ve gained up to this point.

“As well as manage my own results, I’m also going to do what I can to help Bradley, my younger brother and teammate, so he can improve on his current third place in the standings. It would be great to score a one-two in what has been the team’s first season with two cars.

“Donington is one of my favourite tracks as it demands commitment. I’ve won there a few times before and hold the Touring Car Trophy/TCR lap record. I think it’s flowing corners and fast straights will suit the Hyundai and with our experience of the track, we should be able to go there with a good set-up. I’m therefore hoping to be on the pace from the word go.

“I’m really looking forward to the event. With the restrictions on the number of spectators lifted, a big car show being held, plus Time Attack, Drifting and the Civic Cup races – as well as the Touring Car Trophy – I’m hoping we’ll see a good crowd. It will be fantastic fighting it out for the title in front of the fans and I’m sure we can put on a great show for them. I can’t wait!”
