Castle Combe specialist Alex Kite will make his Goodyear Touring Car Trophy debut next weekend, when he drives a Cupra TCR DSG at the Wiltshire circuit in rounds three and four on Bank holiday Monday 31st May.

Having won the Castle Combe Saloons title in 2018 and currently leading the standings in this, his fifth consecutive season contesting his local championship, it would be fair to say that the 22 year old from Dursley in Gloucestershire knows his way around the track’s 1.85-miles of challenging asphalt. However, having also won the Classic VW Cup three years ago and again in 2020, it’s clear to see that his abilities extend way beyond the confines of his home venue.

As well as marking his debut in the Touring Car Trophy, the Castle Combe encounter sees Alex make his first outing behind the wheel of a TCR car, a prospect he is looking forward to immensely:

All of the campaigns I’ve been involved with so far have been in cars that have ran on treaded tyres and with limited modifications, so this will not only be the first time driving a TCR car, but the first time with slicks and wings. As you can imagine, I’m very excited to have this opportunity, especially at a circuit I know so well.

“Having seen the development of the Goodyear Touring Car Trophy and the competitiveness of the TCR grid this year, it’s shaping up as the place to be if you want to compete in a high-profile national saloon car campaign. Therefore, I hope to enter more rounds this year, with a view of contesting a full season in 2022.

Alex will test the Grant Motorsport run and Maximum Motorsport prepared Cupra TCR at Castle Combe on the Thursday before the event. The entry is supported by his regular sponsors PlantSpeed Heavy Haulage and Cross Country Co.
