Following the recent announcement by JamSport Racing that it will run two Subaru Impreza WRX STi TCRs in next year’s Goodyear Touring Car Trophy, the team is pleased to confirm that Ant Whorton-Eales will drive one of these recently acquired cars.

The 2016 Renault Clio Cup Champion, 2018 JCW Mini Challenge Champion and former BTCC driver is the first competitor to sign up for the 2022 season. Having tested a TCR car previously, the 27-year-old from Lichfield is eager to get started with the development of the Subaru and be in a position to challenge for the title when the new season kicks off next year.

“I’m really excited about the prospect of competing in a TCR car in the UK. I’ve watched the championship develop over the course of this season and seen how competitive it is. Added to this, the globally proven balance of performance regulations ensures that things stay on an even playing field, which means you have to be on your ‘A’ game all of the time.

“I know I’ll be working with a good team in JamSport and the Subaru looks and sounds fantastic. So, I’m really looking forward to help develop the car into a competitive package that’s capable of winning races and subsequently, the championship. I can’t wait to get started.”

Goodyear Touring Car Trophy/TCR UK Manager Stewart Lines is delighted that Ant has signed up for the 2022 season:

“It’s great to know that Ant is going to be with us next year. Having a driver of his caliber commit to a full season this far in advance is testimony to the profile and prominence the Touring Car Trophy now holds. Together with JamSport and the Subaru TCR, there’s no doubt that Ant is going to be a driver to watch next year.”

Ant’s JamSport Racing team-mate, who will drive the second Subaru, is yet to be revealed.
