TCR UK organisers are pleased to announce that series stalwart Darelle Wilson will return for a full-season campaign this year, driving his easily distinguishable green Vauxhall Astra that has been a regular feature in the championship since 2018.
Having recorded his first race victory at Castle Combe last year, Wilson looks forward to a brand-new season with backing from new supporters. Consequently, the Solihull-based driver is ready for what is shaping up to be his best campaign yet, especially at a time when the championship is set for its most competitive season to date.
Plenty of work over the winter has seen the Astra stripped down and rebuilt, as the team aims to maximise the potential the car has shown on previous occasions. Running with the number 50 once more, Wilson will be supported by his family-run DW Racing team and says he’s eager to add more wins to his CV:
“I believe we’re more ready than ever this year. The work we’ve carried out on the car since the end of last season meant that we were able to post competitive times during the pre-season test day at Brands Hatch. I’m therefore hoping to mix it at the front of the field this year, although with so many entries this season, there’s going to be some tough competition out there.”
Championship Manager Stewart Lines is pleased to see Wilson back in the pack and said:
“It’s great to know that Darelle will be with us again this season. He’s been a loyal supporter of TCR UK from day-one and is a true competitor. He always gives it everything he’s got and when things go well, has proved he can challenge for podium positions. I hope we’ll see him up there again this year.”
