2023 Goodyear Diamond Award runner-up Garry Townsend has announced that he will be back for his second season in TCR UK
Making his debut in the TCR UK Touring Car Championship last year, Garry adapted well to the Audi Gen2 TCR car and was able to show his competitiveness in the Goodyear Diamond Award, for drivers aged 40 and over.
Garry took eight podiums in the Goodyear Diamond Award across the seven events and fifteen races that made up the 2023 season.
Sticking with the Audi Gen2 TCR car for his second year in TCR UK, the Townsend Motorsport run car will have a much more striking and revised livery this year as the Warwickshire-based driver looks to move himself up the grid.
The 2024 season gets underway at Brands Hatch, using the Indy circuit, on April 13-14. As the new season will have seven events taking place from April to October, this also comes with an increase to twenty races, where six of the venues will become triple headers.
Looking ahead to the new season, the Townsend Vehicle Hire CEO is aiming to improve with the Audi for the new season.
“2023 was a shift for me, after racing in different motorsport disciplines for the past 38 years, I learnt so much about the Audi Gen2 in the process of last year as well as the close and exciting racing in TCR UK, it was a pleasure to be a part of,” said Garry.
“Touring Cars was always the aim and last year I achieved that aim. Now I want to improve and improve the car further as I look to make my way forward in what was an exciting chapter last year and is already looking more competitive for 2024.”
