Matrix Motorsport’s Jeff Alden will make the switch from the Milltek Sport Civic Cup to the TCR UK Touring Car Championship this weekend for rounds 10 and 11 of the 2023 season at Silverstone.
The London-based racer, who has competed in the Civic Cup and previously the Volkswagen Racing Cup, will drive a Vauxhall Astra TCR run in association with DW Racing for the final three events of the year at Silverstone, Donington Park and the Brands Hatch finale in October.
Having tested the Astra during a pre-season test, Jeff is using these three outings as a pre-cursor to a full-time entry in the 2024 TCR UK Touring Car Championship.
Joining the championship for the final six races of the 2023 season, Jeff will also be eligible to fight for honours in the Goodyear Diamond Trophy, an award presented to drivers aged 40 and over.
This weekend will mark the first time since the 2021 TCR UK finale that there will be two Vauxhall Astra TCR’s in action together, with the livery of Jeff’s car to be revealed over the race weekend.
Having taken part in a TCR UK round in 2020 driving a Honda Civic, The London-based businessman was pleased to be back in a TCR car when he tested the Astra earlier this year and is looking forward to making his return this weekend:
“I’m excited to make the move up to TCR UK, at a time when it’s clear that the championship itself is turning heads with its on-track product and increased exposure. I’ll be using each event as a chance to learn the car, get used to the environment and focus on lap times and race positions, rather than scoring championship points,” explained Jeff.
“I’m planning the long game, looking ahead to next year, using Silverstone, Donington Park and Brands Hatch as preparation for a full season entry in next year’s TCR UK Touring Car Championship.”
