Dan Kirby will make his return to the TCR UK Touring Car Championship this year after taking a break from motorsport, where he will drive a CUPRA Leon Competición TCR for Zest Racecar Engineering.

The former race winner last competed in the championship in 2021 where he took his first win during the chaotic first race at the Brands Hatch event. Kirby took multiple additional podiums during that season, where he drove the older CUPRA TCR for Power Maxed Racing.

Ahead of the start of the new season getting underway at Snetterton this weekend, Dan took the opportunity to drive the newer CUPRA Leon Competición TCR during last week’s season launch at Donington Park.

The Malcolm Cleland-led team has already announced Carl Boardley as they make their own return to the championship and armed with two entries now also means that Zest Racecar Engineering is eligible for the new-for-2023 Teams Championship.

With the deal being put together in a very short space of time recently, Dan is excited to be making a return to the championship.

“I’m delighted to be back for another season in TCR UK. Having sat out of motorsport for the last 18 months, I’m keen to start where I left off and hopefully be in the championship hunt at the end of the season.”

“TCR UK has come on strong attracting some top drivers and teams and is a real credit to the organisers and I’m under no illusions how stiff the competition is for this coming season. Huge thanks go to Zest Racecar Engineering, who have worked hard to make the deal happen. I can’t wait to get going next weekend at Snetterton.”
