Darron Lewis has revealed that he will return to the TCR UK Touring Car Championship for 2024, switching to drive a Hyundai i30 N TCR for the new season.
Darron, who drove a self-run Audi RS3 LMS TCR Gen1 last year, will once more fight for honours in the Goodyear Diamond Award, putting the more competitive i30 N TCR into the mix.
The West Midlands-based driver also joins JH Racing this year, who move to an expanded two-car lineup, having already announced Callum Newsham previously.
Darron will race under the DLR with JH Racing banner.
The James Hone run team will run both Hyundai i30 N TCRs in its second year of TCR UK, having only run Callum last year, opening the chance to gather more data and extract the best performance from both cars.
Darron enjoyed a positive start last season, taking one second-place and two third-place finishes in the Goodyear Diamond Award from the opening four rounds of the 2023 season.
Having taken part in the 2022 Snetterton Finale and returning to compete at Snetterton, Croft, Oulton Park and Silverstone last year, missing the other rounds due to clashing business commitments, Darren is glad to be back on the TCR UK grid this year for the full season.
Looking ahead to 2024, Darron is excited to get to grips with the Hyundai i30 N TCR.
“I love my racing and taking part in TCR UK has given me that passion to continue on. Last year was a difficult year with the Audi, so I’m back in a Hyundai, which is one of the most successful brands in TCR competition globally,” explained Darron.
“I’m ready to come back and take on the new season in the new car, where I’m aiming to go out there and achieve some top ten finishes, which may also result in the odd race two grid pole position! The Goodyear Diamond Award is in my sights; however, I just want to go out and enjoy my racing again.”
Championship Promoter Stewart Lines expressed his happiness at seeing Darron returning to the championship for 2024.
“It’s great to see Darron returning to TCR UK, we’ve known Darron for many years and I’m sure coupled with the Hyundai i30 N TCR, that he will be far more competitive in 2024”
