TCR UK 2022 has gained another new entrant this week, as Mark Havers confirms he will make is his debut in the championship this year.
The Suffolk based driver will be at the wheel of a CUPRA TCR run by his T4 Motorsport team, bringing with him a season of experience after driving the car in Endurance races during 2021.
His inaugural season in the championship means Havers will be eligible for the Tom Walker Trophy; an award presented to the highest TCR UK points-scoring driver competing for the first time, or a driver who didn’t finish in a podium position last year. He will also be able to challenge for the Goodyear Diamond Award, which is presented to the highest finishing driver aged 40 or over.
With the grid growing as entries come in for the season ahead, Havers is excited to be joining at this exciting time in the championship’s history:
“I thrive when outside my comfort zone and racing has certainly pushed me beyond what I thought I could do. Every minute on the track is a learning experience and the TCR machines are a massive step-up from the club-specification cars I have raced previously.
“I relish the opportunity to compete with more experienced and successful drivers in like-for-like machinery. It means my performance and results are very much in my hands and it will be up to me to maximise the opportunities.
“The level playing field offers me the chance to measure my progress throughout the season. I am realistic about what can be achieved in what will inevitably be a learning year, but I look forward to the challenge and enjoying being part of a large and competitive grid.”
