Mauger Motorsport will make its debut in the 2024 TCR UK Touring Car Championship, running a CUPRA TCR, which is eligible for the Gen 1 Cup.
Run by businessman and successful rally driver Simon Mauger, the team has previously run cars in customer programmes in various motorsport series within the UK Motorsport Arena.
Simon, who has worked in Motorsport for many years, has been an important part of his team making the jump to circuit racing, where he competed in last year’s BRSCC SuperSport Trophy in a Vauxhall VX220.
The Mauger Motorsport Team Principal has been keeping a watchful eye on TCR UK and decided that 2024 was the year to join the championship.
“We’re a small team, however, that’s not stopped us from taking part at various levels of the ladder in UK Club Motorsport. After testing the CUPRA TCR, I decided the next step up was to be in TCR UK this year,” Simon explained.
“I’ve watched TCR UK grow in recent seasons and with the introduction of the Gen 1 Cup, it’s the ideal time to bring my team to the championship. We hope to help either a young driver on their way up the touring car ladder or to run customers who are looking to make a successful debut in TCR UK.”
