TCR UK organisers have said they were overwhelmed with the interest shown for next year’s series at the Motorsport Days Live event, which took place at Silverstone last weekend (5th & 6th November).

With the format of the show allowing competitors to test the machines they’re interested in campaigning the following season, TCR UK promotors Maximum Motorsport made three cars available for drivers to put through their paces around the International configuration of the British Grand Prix venue: an Audi RS3 LMS, Volkswagen Golf GTi and a Vauxhall Astra TCR.

Eight different TCR UK aspirants tested the cars over the two days and without exception, were eager to sign up for the 2022 season. Having announced two more confirmed entries over the past few days, organisers are looking forward to further announcements over the coming weeks.

Following the event, Championship Manager Stewart Lines commented:

“The 2021 season marked a significant turning point for TCR racing in the UK. We doubled the size of the grids whilst increasing the profile, spectator numbers and public engagement surrounding the series,” said Lines.

There’s no doubt these improvements had a significant effect on the interest we’ve received from teams and drivers, not just at last weekend’s event, but over the past few weeks too. 2022 is shaping up to be a fantastic season and one that I’m sure will see TCR reach the position it deserves in the UK.”
