Callum Newsham will return for his third season in the TCR UK Touring Car Championship, continuing with JH Racing for 2024.

Callum will also be back in the Hyundai i30 N TCR for a second year in a row as he looks to improve on what was a difficult 2023 season. Despite switching to the Hyundai, reliability issues hampered Callum from showing the speed he has until the Brands Hatch Finale.

Setting the second fastest time in Qualifying, claiming second place in race one and setting the fastest lap in the final race of the year proved that the combination was starting to gel, putting Callum and JH Racing in a much better position for the 2024 season.

With driver and team in a much better position after last season, Callum, his father Dave and JH Racing Team Manager James Hone are already looking forward to the start of this year, which gets underway at Brands Hatch on April 13-14, using the Indy circuit.

Callum is aiming for a good start to the 2024 season:

“I’m delighted that we are back in TCR UK for the 2024 season running with our team from last year JH Racing and our Hyundai i30 N TCR,” explained Callum.

“We believe we have got on top of our Hyundai’s performance issues from last year and we plan to hit the ground running on 13th 14th April at Brands Hatch!”

Dave Newsham is determined to make sure that son Callum gets the best start possible for this year:

We had a difficult, but certainly not wasted season last year. We learned a lot about the car, fine-tuned our setup and got on top of the reliability issues. Callum proved his speed when the car was running well, he has mastered the i30 N TCR, proving this by breaking the race lap record for TCR at Brands Hatch last year,” Dave explained.

“I really felt sorry for Callum last year with all the breakdowns we encountered, and I am determined to give him the tools to fight for the champion this year. With JH Racing and a now known history of the car, we are in very good shape!”

With a season’s worth of knowledge now in the bank, Team Manager James Hone is eager to get Callum running upfront in 2024:

“Without a doubt – Last season was tough! We came into the 2023 season with a relatively unknown car that gave us a lot of hurdles to overcome. When everything was ironed out and everything came together unfortunately it was too late to challenge for the title.”

“With a podium at the season finale & taking the outright race lap record for TCR UK at Brands Hatch – there is not a shadow of doubt that Callum is blisteringly quick, setting the bar pretty high for us for the forthcoming season!”

“We have worked very hard behind the scenes throughout the winter on both the car and the team. We will start 2024 ready, refreshed, and eager to get going to fight at the sharp end.”

Championship Promoter Stewart Lines is delighted to see Callum Newsham and JH Racing back in TCR UK for 2024.

“It’s great to see Callum Newsham back, representing the Hyundai brand in TCR UK for 2024. The experience he’s gained in the last 12 months in the Hyundai i30 N TCR will be put to good use, making him a contender on track.”
