Matthew Wilson makes his return to the TCR UK Touring Car Championship this weekend, at the same venue where he scored his maiden podium last year.
Matthew will take part in the three rounds to be held at Silverstone, on the National circuit, driving a re-liveried CUPRA Leon Competición TCR that will once again be run by Nick Beaumont’s JW Bird Motorsport squad.
Matthew has already enjoyed some outings in the CUPRA this year, taking part in several Endurance events to keep himself competitive and is looking forward to his return to TCR UK.
Staying with the same CUPRA that he has driven in TCR UK during the last two seasons and working with the same team, gives Matthew an advantage that he’ll look to put to good use.
The CUPRA Leon Competición TCR carries a new striking livery for the 2024 season, meaning that the Bristol-based driver will be hard to miss on the competitive TCR UK grid this weekend.
Matthew is very grateful to his family and sponsors for the opportunity to go racing in TCR UK once more, one that he is excited about.
““Whilst I haven’t been sprint racing this year, I have kept myself competitive in the CUPRA, getting involved in Endurance racing and keeping my race skills sharp. I’m very excited to get back into TCR UK after taking my first podium at Silverstone last year,” ,” explained Matthew.
“I must pass on my thanks to my family and my sponsors who have supported me in my journey this year and are fully behind me in returning to the Championship. I look forward to getting stuck back in and rewarding their support with some good results this weekend.”
Championship Promoter Stewart Lines is very happy to see both Matthew and JW Bird Motorsport return to the championship this weekend.
“It’s great to see Matthew back on the TCR UK grid for this event. He’s improved year on year during his time in the championship, with his podium finish last year proof of his development. I look forward to seeing both Matthew and JW Bird Motorsport performing well at Silverstone.”
Matthew’s entry is supported by TMP Developments Ltd, Wessex Plant Hire Ltd, Molson Group, Jones Bros (Henllan) Ltd, BMC Buckets, Dunn Bros Auctions, John Coles Contractors Ltd, Senata, Gibbings & Sons, SPH Plant Ltd and Salter Civils Groundworks Ltd.
