Adding his name to the rapidly growing list of drivers and teams joining TCR UK in 2022 is Steve Gales, who will make his series debut at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR when the season kicks off in April.

The former MSV Supercup runner up will test the car he will be driving next year for the first time, at the forthcoming TCR taster day that takes place at Donington Park on 23rd November.

Having previously sampled slick-shod racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Gales says that he’s ready to return to high-level competition and has had his eye on TCR racing for the past few seasons. He’s therefore eager to get behind the wheel of the Golf and find out once and for all what these globally campaigned saloon cars are all about.

“TCR is a new challenge for me and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m also looking forward to trying out the car for the first time at Donington this week.

“After following the series in the UK for a while now, it’s great to see that it’s really grown this year and looks like it’s the place to be.

“The global TCR regulations provide a level playing field, which keeps the racing close. So, with more cars on the grid in 2022, it’s shaping up to be a spectacular season and one that I want to be a part of.

“It will be good to see how things go when I test the car for the first time this week. We can then start a winter test programme and be up to speed and ready to go as we can be before the start of the season.”
