The TCR UK Touring Car Championship welcomes the news that 2022 Vice Champion Isaac Smith and 2023 Snetterton Race Two winner Lewis Brown have made the progression to the 2023 TCR Europe Touring Car Series.
TCR competition has always been designed to provide a platform for young drivers to begin at National level so that they can learn and progress up the order to Regional Level TCR Series, with TCR Europe recognised as the best regional championship in recent years.
With the addition of the TCR World Tour for 2023, where World-class drivers and teams get to race alongside National and Regional TCR competitors with the aim of reaching the World Ranking Final, this offers the ideal opportunity for both Isaac and Lewis to excel on the International stage.
Isaac Smith made his debut in TCR UK last year, where despite not winning a race in 2022, he was able to use consistency to his advantage as he took seven podium finishes in the Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR and finished as the 2022 vice-champion.
Lewis Brown made his debut in the championship over the Easter weekend at Snetterton this year, showing good qualifying pace in the Chameleon Motorsport CUPRA Leon Competición TCR and going on to take the race two victory.
The 2023 TCR World Tour gets underway this weekend with the opening two rounds of the 2023 TCR Europe Touring Car Series at Portimão in Portugal, where both Isaac and Lewis will compete for Volcano Motorsport in a pair of Audi RS3 LMS TCR Gen2 cars.
Championship Promoter Stewart Lines is proud to see both young drivers make their International debut this weekend.
“TCR UK has always been about providing an affordable and competitive platform for young drivers to make their touring car debut. I’m proud to see Isaac and Lewis get the exciting opportunity to make their international debut in both TCR Europe and in the first event of the brand-new TCR World Tour,” explained Stewart.
“Their performances in TCR UK have provided both drivers with a solid base to progress to the next level and take on the best drivers and teams in global TCR competition. We wish Isaac and Lewis all the best for this weekend in Portugal.”
