At the end of a nail biting 2020 campaign, the Dunlop Touring Car Trophy / TCR UK Championship returns for a final round thriller at Donington Park. Unlike in previous events, TCT will see a triple header to end the year with 2 points separating the top two drivers.

Leading the way in the standings is Henry Neal. The Team Dynamics driver has secured two wins and a pole position this year, finishing inside the top two for each race. It is a similar story for his key title rival Lewis Kent. The Essex and Kent Motorsport driver has lit up the series in 2020 and in mirror to his TCT rival has recorded two wins and two second places. It has been qualifying where the pair have seen the difference, with Kent’s Hyundai i30 N TCR yet to pick up the 5 points for pole.

Neal, driving his father’s old Honda Civic Type R FK2, has taken the win in the opening races, with Kent hitting back in race two. The three-race format for Donington gives both parties a golden opportunity to snatch the title, setting up a championship showdown for Sunday.

Watching both throughout will be Max Hart. The Irish driver has quickly adapted to the CUPRA Leon TCR from national single-seaters, locking out the podium in every race so far. On 61 points, and with 75 available for the weekend, the Maximum Motorsport star will be prime position to take advantage of mistakes or retirements.

Hart is also still in contention to challenge Kent to end the year as the top TCR car. Last year’s Donington final proved an enthralling affair, as James Turkington narrowly beat Kent to the title, while Neal secured victory in the final race of the season.

Making the step up this weekend is Jeff Alden. A podium finisher in the VW Cup, which race adjacent to TCT, Alden pilots the Honda Civic TCR. He won’t be the only new addition though, as Mark Wakefield returns to the series in which he picked up a podium in 2019, driving a CUPRA Leon TCR.

Additionally, for the second year in a row, a current BTCC driver will feature on the grid, as Sam Osbourne joined the Power Maxed Racing/Trade Price Cars team, piloting the CUPRA TCR. A regular points scorer, the 27-year-old will look to make an impact on his series debut. He’s joined at the team by PMR regular William Butler, racing with the support of Rotec Engineering.

Elsewhere, BritCar Class champion Tim Docker will hope to continue his run of form. The Maximum Motorsport driver pilots the striking black and white Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR striving to end the year on a high.

Darelle Wilson finished third in last year’s TCR UK standings, picking up a maiden pole at Donington Park. The Vauxhall Astra could be in line for a repeat his year striving to end the year on a high.

All races will be streamed Live this weekend.
