Another driver to join the ever-increasing ranks of the Goodyear Touring Car Trophy/TCR UK is Tom Hibbert. Driving a Rob Boston Motorsport-run Opel Astra TCR, Tom will make his debut at the final meeting and last three rounds of the season at Donington Park, on Bank Holiday Monday, 30th August.

Currently competing in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup, Tom will drive straight from Thruxton to Donington to make the transition from driving a rear-wheel-drive sportscar on Sunday to a front-wheel-drive saloon car on Monday. And, having tested the Astra at Donington last week, the Ginetta GT4 Supercup race-winner is looking forward to the challenge:

“My aim for Monday is to get acclimatised to the car and see what progress I can make during the three races. I’ve mostly driven rear-wheel-drive cars in my racing career, so this will be a new experience for me and one I’m really looking forward to.

“I’m very grateful to championship manager Stewart Lines of Maximum Motorsport and team principal Rob Boston for giving me this opportunity. It’s going to be great to drive a TCR car in race conditions against such a strong field of drivers who are fighting for the title.

“I’ve seen the Goodyear Touring Car Trophy grow in popularity and profile this year. So, if all goes well at Donington, I shall look towards a full season campaign in 2022.”
