Matthew Wilson has confirmed that he will return for a second season in the TCR UK Touring Car Championship, staying on board with JWB Motorsport for a second consecutive year.

This news also means that JWB Motorsport will be running two full-time entries this season, having previously announced George Jaxon joining the team for his first full season in the championship earlier this year, also driving a CUPRA Leon Competición TCR.

Matthew made his debut in the championship last year at the wheel of a CUPRA Leon Competición TCR, where he took a best finish of seventh place in the second race on the Oulton Park Island Layout.

The CUPRA driver also made good use of the two reverse grid pole positions at both Oulton Park and Castle Combe respectively, where he was running second at Castle Combe before being given a time penalty which dropped him off the podium.

Returning with the CUPRA and staying with the same team for 2023 offers Matthew a chance to hit the ground running this year and he is looking towards an improved second season.

“It’s great to be able to confirm my plans for 2023 and to return to TCR UK, especially as the championship has moved up another level over the winter. Last year was a learning year for me and the team with the car, so now that we have that data and experience behind us, we’re looking to improve in our second season together and move forward,” said Matthew.

“I showed good pace in the car last year and with the added benefit of having a team-mate this year, we can work together to improve the performance of the car and show what the CUPRA Leon Competición TCR can really do in TCR UK.”
