The TCR UK Touring Car Championship is proud to recognise one of its front-running drivers taking the next step in their touring car career, whilst seeing its young drivers being selected for Driver Development programmes in 2023.
Former TCR UK race winner and title contender Max Hart has been announced as one of the latest drivers to join the 2023 Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Junior Driver Programme, with the programme being extended to TCR China.
TCR UK’s drivers Alex Ley and Bradley Kent were announced earlier in the season as part of the programme for this year.
This latest announcement by Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing shows that TCR UK is becoming the series of choice to help young talented drivers make their way up the national and international Touring Car ladder.
Restart Racing’s young driver Scott Sumpton was selected earlier in the year for the JAS Motorsport Driver Development programme, receiving support and guidance from the Italian brand.
Both Isaac Smith and Lewis Brown made their debuts in TCR Europe earlier this year, showing that TCR UK is the ideal development stage, providing young drivers with the best opportunities to progress and race with recognised Touring Car Brands internationally.
Part of the TCR Touring Car Competition ethos is that drivers can race on an affordable budget and be competitive with the same equipment, whether at National or Regional level, to give them the chance to race in the TCR World Ranking Final in 2024.
TCR UK Championship Promoter Stewart Lines welcomes the news of Max joining the Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Junior Driver Programme.
“It’s a great reward to see that Max’s hard work and efforts have been recognised by Hyundai and that he has the chance to show what he can do with their support.
“TCR competition is all about racing competitively and giving young drivers a chance to have a career in Touring car racing, with the chance to make progression as these young drivers look to take the next step up the Touring Car Ladder.
“The TCR package in the UK is going from strength to strength and in 2024 will give many young drivers from both Karting and Club Racing to sample the TCR Concept and race Touring Cars competitively.”
